When something is incoherent it lacks normal clarity and cohesion. It does not hold together; it is not unified or an intelligible whole. Put simply incoherence is chaotic, confusing and stressful..

Incoherence exists 'out there' in the world, but it also exists within us. This inner incoherence is deeply connected to our stress response, and how this impacts our body's systems. When we are stressed it impacts our breathing, heart rhythms, immune system, metabolism and our hormones, causing these systems to become out of sync. But it doesn't have to be this way. When we learn to better self-regulate our thoughts, emotions and behaviours we can then begin to bring our body's systems back into coherence. From this place of coherence we can then begin to respond to the incoherence 'out there' in a healthier way.
Coherence allows us to bring harmony to our thinking, feelings, words and actions, which allows us to choose how we respond to any situation, experience or challenge we may be facing. By developing the ability to self-regulate our thoughts, emotions and behaviours, we are then able to create more coherent outcomes in all aspects of life.
